Scholarship applications for Writercon are now closed.

The only requirements for application are that:

• You must be an active member of fandom and provide us a link or other reference for that activity. (Your participation need not be as a writer - betas, icon artists, archivists, and other supporters of "the arts" are equally welcome!)
• You must be willing to do up to 4 hours of (non-programming) volunteer work at the convention.

To Apply:

• Fill out the form below to apply for a scholarship to Writercon 2009. Scholarship applications will be open from March 1 - March 15, 2009. Applications will close promptly on March 15 at 11:59pm EST, and no late applications will be accepted.

The following policies are in effect:

• Badge-only requests will be honored first.
• Subsequently, we will hold random drawings at the end of March, April, and May to award transportation and hotel assistance, as funds become available.
• Transportation and hotel funds will be awarded as reimbursement only, to a maximum of $400. Recipients must bring receipts to con and present them for reimbursement on site. If you do not bring your receipts to con, you will not be reimbursed.
• Volunteer assignments should be made by Volunteer Coordinator not later than 6/15. Assignments will vary in department and length, but should not require missing more than one full session on any day at the convention. Ahead of time work may be assigned in lieu of at-con work at Volunteer Coordinator's discretion.
• Panel/workshop volunteering will generally not count toward requirement. We have budgeted for administration and programming costs and will use those budgets rather than scholarships as necessary.
• Applications must be individual. If a group of people wants to apply, each member of the group must apply separately and go through the lotteries separately.
• Lotteries will be random drawings and witnessed in person by someone not affiliated with Writercon.
